Mechanical tube is selected by material, supplied condition, outside diameter, bore or wall thickness, dimensional tolerances, straightness and machining allowance. It must not automatically be treated as pressure pipe or a load-bearing structural tube unless the purchase specification states this and the relevant verification is completed.
